A football commentator inadvertently filmed a half-naked woman in his hotel room during a live broadcast.

Presenter Juan Francisco Rueda had travelled to Buenos Aires to cover Ecuador’s World Cup qualifier against Argentina. The Ecuadorian commentator was staying in a hotel in the Argentine capital ahead of the match last Wednesday (8 Sept).

Argentina won the qualifying match 1-0 thanks to a 78th minute goal by talisman Lionel Messi, who has been tearing up the MLS since joining Inter Miami. Rueda was taking part in a video call with colleagues in the studio in Ecuador.

The video shows Rueda, sporting Ecuador’s away strip, as he chats with two colleagues in the studio. One presenter says: “There he is, Juan Francisco with the national team shirt.

“You have some backlight, see if you can do something about it.” Rueda then apparently switches camera mode on his phone and the woman is seen getting dressed in the hotel room.

The commentator says: “There’s someone naked there, be careful! “Change that image.” The woman was identified as Ecuadorian sports journalist Romina Riera.

Both Rueda and Riera pointed out they are currently dating each other, but hadn’t announced anything publicly before the filmed incident.

Rueda even posted a scan of his ID card to show his marital status is ‘single’ after online users accused him of being married.

Meanwhile, Riera addressed the incident on Instagram Stories for her 48,000 followers, calling it a “very clear accident”.

She added: “Many people knew about the relationship I have with Juan Fran, our accounts have become very work-related, but it also came as a surprise to many people.”
