Football fans left baffled after John Cena posts pic of Marc Cucurella

Football fans left baffled as to why WWE legend John Cena posted surprise photo of Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella after Blues’ shock loss to Brentford – but the Spaniard knows exactly why!

  • WWE star John Cena shared a bizarre snap of Marc Cucurella after Chelsea loss
  • Marc Cucurella was criticised by fans for his performance against Brentford
  • Fans were left puzzled by the snap, with the post accruing over 120,000 likes

WWE superstar John Cena recently caught the attention of Chelsea fans when he shared a picture of the club’s defender, Marc Cucurella, on his Instagram account.

The post itself was devoid of any caption or explanation, leaving many Blues supporters confused about its meaning.

Some fans jumped to the conclusion that Cena might be mocking their club, particularly since he posted the image shortly after Chelsea’s disheartening 2-0 loss to Brentford.

One fan opined that Cena may have been drawing attention to Cucurella’s performance during the Chelsea-Brentford match, humorously referring to the player as ‘invisible’ during the game.

Another fan expressed the sentiment that ‘everyone’s laughing at us,’ suggesting that Cena’s post was part of this collective amusement at the club’s expense.

However, there is more to this story than meets the eye. It turns out that John Cena’s Instagram post was not a random jab at Chelsea, but rather a response to something Marc Cucurella had said earlier in the week.

The former Brighton defender had named Cena as the actor he would most like to portray him in a hypothetical film. He went on to explain that he had always admired Cena’s combat skills and his extensive career in WWE.

After being asked ‘which actor would you like to portray you in a movie?’, Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella claimed it would be John Cena.

Explaining why, the Spanish international said: ‘I’ve always liked his combats and his career in WWE.’

While we love Cucurella’s enthusiasm about the WWE, it’s certainly a rogue shout from the former Brighton and Barcelona player.

However, it appears Crystal Palace’s Joel Ward might be similarly deluded.

He chose Chris Hemsworth as his ideal actor, while Luton Town’s Tom Lockyer reckons Bradley Cooper is the perfect actor for the job.
