Bookmaker Betfair is £264,000 worse off after one lucky bettor waltzed to an eye-watering payday on Saturday.
Or at least that will be the bookie's reaction after seeing the 13-fold prediction pulled off by one punter. The gambler in question wagered £50 on a 5,273/1 shot that came in, including no fewer than four draws across the top two tiers of English football.
The audacious accumulator backed Premier League outfits Chelsea, Tottenham, Fulham and Everton all to win, as well as betting Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest would draw in the late kick-off. And it was a 0-0 stalemate at Selhurst Park that put the finishing touches on the pricey pick.

In the Championship, they selected Middlesbrough, Blackburn, Leeds, Ipswich and Leicester City would each win. That's in addition to predicting draws in Cardiff's clash with Watford, Millwall's meeting with Hull City and Coventry City's encounter at home to Norwich City.
The unnamed mystic must have been left sweating after Spurs midfielder Yves Bissouma was sent off at Luton, only for Tottenham to hold on for the 1-0 victory. And it was only an 88th-minute own-goal from Ben Gibson that saw Coventry snatch a point at home to the Canaries.

“It’s been a memorable day for one Betfair punter who has taken us to the absolute cleaners with a game changing 13-fold accumulator, winning an incredible £264,000," said Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom. “Hats off to the punter who, not only predicted a number of wins, but also correctly predicted four draws in matches across the Premier League and Championship.
“An 88th minute equaliser for Coventry against Norwich really rubbed the salt in our wounds, but that’s football, and from everyone at Betfair we have to wish them a huge congratulations!

“It’s been a great day for Betfair punters in general, with our SuperBoost of Son Heung-min to have one or more shots on target landing early in the first half against Luton Town today.”
Confidence certainly wasn't an issue for the punter splashing £50 on a pick at odds of more than 5,000/1. And their faith in their penchant for premonitions won't have been dented after one of the best bets you'll see hit the back of the net.
