Sergio Ramos scored a Panenka penalty for Sevilla in the Champions League before being booked seconds later.

The legendary defender, 37, stole the show again by playing the pantomime villain in Sevilla’s 2-1 defeat at Lens. The struggling Spanish side finished bottom of Group B, missing out on third place and therefore a spot in the Europa League.

Ramos thought he had given his team a glimmer of hope by equalising in the 79th minute from the penalty spot. The former Real Madrid hero, a four-time winner of the competition with Los Blancos, was allowed to take his saved spot-kick again due to Lens’ goalkeeper being off his line.

And the Spaniard made no mistake with his second attempt, chipping the ball into the roof of the net in a way most strikers can only dream of. Yet, in classic Ramos style, he overshadowed his moment of magic with some villainous play in a matter of seconds.

As the ball rebounded out of the net, Brice Samba looked to keep hold of it and waste some time. But his veteran opponent was quicker to react, shrewdly reading the situation and sticking a boot in first.

Ramos knew exactly what he was doing – it didn’t matter that he caught Samba’s hand while knocking the ball out of his grasp – even if he appeared flabbergasted when the referee pulled out a yellow card. And fans immediately took to social media to point out the World Cup winner’s elite s***housery, the likes of which we may never see again.

“What a man” one X user tweeted, while another wrote: “Ramos in one video.” A third chimed in with: “I just love Sergio Ramos man. Perfect s***house player.”

His effort to stop time-wasting didn’t pay off, however, with Samba using it as an excuse to roll around on the floor and seek treatment from the Lens physios. And Ramos was left with egg on his face minutes later in stoppage time.

Angelo Fulgini grabbed the winner for Lens in the 96th minute with a neat one-on-one finish, leaving Ramos and his team-mates gutted. He will now turn his attention to La Liga, where Sevilla are currently down in 16th.
