Manchester United fans were left in disbelief as Alejandro Garnacho wasted the best chance of the game.
Garnacho was brought off the bench for Antony on the hour mark and after being on the pitch for five minutes had the chance to break the deadlock in United’s must-win game. But the Argentina international completely fluffed his lines.
After a miserable first-half that saw United lack creativity and intensity, and lucky to be level at half-time after Copenhagen struck the post just five minutes into the game. And Garnacho had the chance to break the deadlock and release the pressure at Old Trafford.

A racking Bruno Fernandes pass from inside the United half found Garnacho who had timed his run to perfection – remaining in his own half as the United captain played him into space beyond the backline.
Garnacho’s first touch brought the ball down perfectly into his path as he charged down on the former Liverpool keeper Kamil Grabara. But as he entered the penalty area, Garnacho’s next touch bobbled off his shin and rolled through into the arms of the keeper who couldn’t believe he wasn’t forced into a save.

Groans came from the Stretford End as United passed up another chance to go ahead, one fan on Twitter said: “Man it's almost as if Lukaku is watching over us.” A second added: “He can't even control the ball”.
United did eventually get the breakthrough as Harry Maguire powered home a header from Christian Eriksen’s cross to put United on their way to the first three points of the group stage – previously losing their opening two games against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.
But a second goal for Erik ten Hag wouldn’t come as Garnacho wasted a further chance as he struck another one-on-one straight at the goalkeeper. A last-gasp penalty save from Andre Onana saw United pick up the crucial three points, in what United will hope can kickstart their season.
