Chelsea are back on track after Fulham win | Football Digest
Ivan Toney has shown what Arsenal and Chelsea are missing by scoring in his first appearance since being banned for 232 breaches of the Football Association’s betting rules. Toney featured in a Brentford shirt for the first time during the Bees’ B team victory over Como on Tuesday.
Toney remains suspended from competitive football until January. However, he will have a host of Premier League clubs lining up for his signature in the winter window, including Arsenal and Chelsea.
The 27-year-old has shown the interested parties exactly what they could be buying with a smart finish against Como. In a match played at AFC Wimbledon’s Plough Lane venue, Toney rounded the goalkeeper with a clever finish and bore down on goal.
Under pressure from several defenders, he managed to keep his cool before sliding the ball into an empty net. It was the kind of finish that Brentford fans had become accustomed to before the striker’s ban was enforced in May.

The former Newcastle man was found guilty of 232 breaches of the FA’s betting rules and was handed an eight-month suspension. He will be available to play from January 17 but there is a chance that he has played his final match for the West Londoners.
According to the Independent, the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea believe Toney is one of the most ‘buyable’ centre-forwards ahead of the January window. Both clubs have struggled for goals this season and need a prolific attacker.
Toney bagged 20 goals in 33 Premier League appearances last season and struck 12 times in the campaign prior. It is reported that Manchester United also harbour an interest in the England international.
The Red Devils ultimately signed Rasmus Hojlund in the summer window, knowing they could not wait until January to solve their scoring problems. But the added firepower could help Erik ten Hag’s side after a woeful start to the Premier League season.

Toney could apparently be the ‘big signing’ of the January window. However, Brentford boss Thomas Frank admitted last month that his star man could be sold for the ‘right price’ in the near future, with the Premier League outfit holding out for a huge deal.
Frank told Sky Sports: “I think every club in the world are a selling club except five or six clubs. We are a selling club, if the right price is there.”
Asked if that included Toney, Frank added: “Yeah, I think so. I understand why there are a lot of rumours out there about him.”
