James Maddison is in contention to play against Bournemouth tomorrow – despite his injury against Manchester United causing fears he would be unavailable.

Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Spurs’ midfield man ‘trained unrestricted’ today.

Maddison left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on crutches but told reports it was just a precaution.

He said: ‘Madders trained today unrestricted. We’ll see how he holds up but at the moment he will be available.

‘I think it was the incident when Romero got brought down, he had a shot and it was a block tackle. His ankle was a bit sore after that but medical team looked after him.

‘There was no real push to have him available. It was down to him. People would have seen him in a moon boot but it was more precautionary. He has felt good and probably could have trained yesterday.’

James Maddison should be available for Spurs’ match against Bournemouth on Saturday – but Ange Postecoglou said they’ll ‘see how he holds up’

Postecoglou said it’s ‘unlikely’ that Spurs will have three goalkeepers, menaing Lloris still looks headed for the exit door

He was also asked if Hugo Lloris could stay at Spurs.

The Frenchman has looked destined for the exit door for a while after revealing that he wants to leave the club in June.

Guglielmo Vicario has come in as the new first choice, with Fraser Forster on the bench against United.

Postecoglou said: ‘You can’t just have any number of players you want and I’d say it’s unlikely we’ll have three goalkeepers on our list.’

Asked about Pedro Porro’s form, he said: ‘I would be reticent to read into anything after two or three games. He performed well last week, performed well in pre-season and as a full-back he has some good attributes to the way we want to play.

‘He is good with and without the ball, but again he is 23 and we have a pretty young back four at the moment. Emerson is in a similar boat and they will develop as they go along.’

Porro did come in for some criticism in the United game, particularly from Gary Neville, as he was pushed into the inverted full-back position – a system the Red Devils themselves have tried this season with shaky results.
