West Ham defender Kurt Zouma and his family were the victims of a terrifying armed robbery at the weekend.

Zouma missed the Hammers' 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, with no reason given for his absence other than 'personal reasons'. It has now emerged that armed robbers broke into his house, stealing cash and jewellery worth £100,000 taken.

The Hammers have offered a £25,000 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to an arrest and successful prosecution. The club said in a statement: "Kurt’s home was broken into on Saturday while all his family were in the house, leaving everyone present extremely distressed.

"While thankfully no one was harmed, it was a traumatic experience for the West Ham defender, his wife and their young family. The burglars took items of significant value and of huge personal and sentimental importance to the family. The West Ham United family continue to offer Kurt’s family their full support."

Joint-Chair David Sullivan said: "First and foremost, the thoughts of everyone connected to West Ham United are with Kurt and his family. To have someone break into your home is a terrifying experience and I hope this reward will help bring the individuals to justice and prevent others from going through a similar ordeal.”

Anyone with any relevant information is asked to email [email protected] with as much detail as possible, which will then be shared with police.

Hammers fans have been quick to rally around Zouma, with one saying: "Sorry to hear your traumatic experience. Much love to you and your family."

Another said: "What is this world coming to?? Wishing Kurt Zouma and his family all the best. I hope they get the scum and lock them up for a long fucking time."
