Tottenham fans were not at all happy after Laura Woods asked James Maddison a question they slammed as "disrespectful" and "unprofessional".
Woods and TNT Sports colleague Ally McCoist had a sit-down chat with Spurs' summer arrival Maddison for the broadcaster this week, discussing a range of topics including his £40million exit from Leicester.
Asking her first question of the interview, Arsenal fan Woods began: “Another thing that Ally and me I think share is a real joy of watching you play football.
"It’s not just football; obviously we love your interviews and your personality in general. Which is why, the question, why Spurs? Like why did you decide to go to Spurs? Come on!”

Maddison turned to McCoist and shook his head before exclaiming: “Didn’t take long! Didn’t take long that, did it? Arsenal fan, Laura, in case we didn’t know.”
While he said that, Woods added: “Congratulations first and foremost, I’m only jealous because I wanted you to come to us! Honestly, though, congratulations."
Maddison continued: “Listen, you get to… you didn’t mean that, did you [laughs]?" Before Woods joked: "I did."

While some saw it as light-hearted banter, other Spurs fans didn't take it as well. One tweeted: "Laura Woods is pathetic. Not only is this childishly bias and unprofessional, it clearly made her guest and co-host uncomfortable."
"This is so unprofessional and disrespectful to Maddison," similarly argued a second. A third quipped: "Classy as ever from Laura Woods."

Many came to Woods' defence, with one replying: "Mate I'm a Spurs fan and even I can see this is a joke. Life will be more fun if you lighten up a bit." Another added: "Just having a laugh with him why take it so seriously."
