Amid the euphoria of Liverpool’s epic win over Fulham, many fans were left frustrated over the performance of Darwin Nunez.

As the stunning goals rained in, includinglate strikes from Wataru Endo from Trent Alexander-Arnold which turned a 3-2 defeat into a 4-3 win, it was an afternoon to forget for Nunez, who should have found the net himself.

While Liverpool fans are desperate for the Uruguayan to fulfil his promises and ability, many are losing patience. One said: “I’m starting to lose faith in Nunez. It’s hard to ignore how calamitous some of his play is. Is he ever in control of himself? I love his attitude. So badly want him to do well.”

Another added: “I really do love Nunez but I’m starting to lose faith. If he can’t put open goals away then we will need to look elsewhere. You telling me Jota or Gakpo in the same position would miss that?”

One concerned fan declared: “Darwin Nunez will cost us the league. Mark my words.” A fourth commented: “This guy keeps missing easy chances and they keep defending him, I don't know why!”

After one missed chance, a fifth said: “Nunez, I love you but you gotta score those.” A few fans sprung to his defence though, with one pointing out: “Darwin Nunez might get some criticism for his missed chances, but remember he kept the ball in play for the buildup for Trent’s winning goal. That is important as a goal himself. Give him some respect for that.”

Nunez also came under fire from pundit and former Liverpool player Stephen Warnock, who felt the 24-year-old was going to ground too easily. Watching the game for BBC Five Live, Warnock said: “There has been a few times now that Nunez has thrown himself to the ground looking for a foul. Book him. We need to eliminate that from the game.”
