“It looks a shambles” | Man Utd are out of the Champions League
Liverpool could face stiff competition from Manchester City and Manchester United for the signature of Khephren Thuram in January, according to reports. The Reds brought four new midfielders to Anfield over the summer but have been widely tipped to chase more signings next month.
Thuram was linked with Liverpool at the end of last season but stayed at Nice after a move failed to materialise, with the Merseyside giants pursuing other options. However, they could be set to revive their interest in January given their ‘serious’ admiration for the player, according to Calciomercato.
It is said that Liverpool are ‘in contact’ with Thuram’s representatives to discuss the likelihood of a move to Anfield. They will not be the only team in the race for his services, though, with City and United also said to have reached out to confirm their interest in a January deal.
Juventus are also thought to be keen on signing Thuram, who has played a key role in helping Nice to stay near the top of the Ligue 1 table. The French outfit are willing to let him leave in January after putting him ‘up for auction’, which suggests he will be available to the highest bidder.

Thuram fuelled speculation over a move to the Premier League last month, admitting that he was flattered by the links over the summer, but he also refused to rule out the possibility of staying at Nice until the end of the season.
He said: “I think I’ve started the season well. The team has of course had a very good start to the season. I have developed aspects of my game. Regarding what happened in the transfer window, I decided to stay.

“I wanted to continue to progress at Nice and progress as a player at this club. Honestly, it made me happy to be linked to all these clubs left, right and centre. It shows I’m doing the right things but as I said, I knew I wanted to stay here.”
Thuram has made over 120 appearances for Nice in all competitions since breaking through the club’s academy system four years ago. He made his senior international debut for France towards the end of last season and will be hoping to keep impressing in order to earn a place in their Euros squad next summer.
