Manchester United are set to complete the £4.3million signing of Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir as cover for Andre Onana.

The Turkey international arrived in England over the weekend and his agents joined him in Manchester on Wednesday to iron out the final details ahead of his move.

Bayindir was an unused substitute as Fenerbahce beat Twente 5-1 in the Europa Conference League last week.

His impending arrival at Old Trafford will allow Crystal Palace to complete the signing of  Dean Henderson, who will move to Selhurst Park for £15m with a further £5m in add-ons.

As Mail Sport reported earlier this week, United will also hold a sell-on clause.

United officials travelling to Greece last week to seal the deal for Bayindir, who has won five caps for Turkey.

The 25-year-old made 40 appearances in all competitions last term as Fenerbache finished second in the Turkish Super Lig and won the Turkish Cup.

On Monday, Fred seemed to confirm that United had completed the signing of the Fenerbahce goalkeeper.

The Brazilian, who signed for the Turkish giants in the summer, said he had already bid farewell to Bayindir at his introductory press conference in Istanbul.

‘I wished Altay good luck when he left. He’s going to a great team.

‘I gave him some suggestions about places where he could live and I told him it rains a lot.

‘I think Altay is going to be very happy at Manchester United.’

Henderson was on the bench for United’s 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, but travelled to London soon afterward to undergo his medical.

He will replace Dean Henderson, who is set to join Crystal Palace for a fee of £15m

Palace have been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper as Vicente Guaita looks to push through an exit away from Selhurst Park, with Henderson tipped to replace him.

Roy Hodgson already has an England shot-stopper between the sticks in Sam Johnstone but would bring in Henderson to add competition to his goalkeeping ranks.

The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, keeping six clean sheets in 19 Premier League appearances before a thigh injury curtailed his campaign in January.

Forest held discussions with United over a loan move for Henderson with an obligation to make his move permanent at the end of the season, but he eventually returned Old Trafford.
