Ten Hag insists Rashford ready to play for Man Utd in Copenhagen
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is facing a longer layoff than previously thought, with Erik ten Hag admitting his injury will keep him out until after Christmas. The Brazil midfielder suffered a hamstring injury in the Carabao Cup loss against Newcastle and was withdrawn at half time. United had previously suggested the player could be out for “several weeks” but have now confirmed he will be out until January.
Casemiro, 31, has added to United’s longer term injury worries, with Lisandro Martinez not expected back until the new year either. Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw are expected to be back in action sooner, but with Jadon Sancho still frozen out of the first team picture the news about Casemiro is a blow.
“I expect some back but – for instance Casemiro and Martinez – they are really strong injuries and I don’t expect them back before Christmas,” Ten Hag told reporters ahead of the Red Devils’ Champions League clash with Copenhagen in Denmark on Wednesday.
“I have some time schedules [on the others], but it’s always difficult to predict that because they can get setbacks during the rehab period, so I’m always holding back on some issue.”

Meanwhile, Ten Hag has confirmed that Harry Maguire is available for selection after suffering a head injury during Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Fulham. The Red Devils were criticised for allowing the defender to carry on after he clashed heads with Rodrigo Muniz in the opening minute of the contest. “We followed all the protocols after the game so he’s ready,” the 53-year-old said. “He was fine in the game [and] played very well.”
And Ten Hag has also confirmed that Marcus Rashford will return to the squad after missing the clash with the Cottagers. “[He’s] 100 per cent [ready],” added the Dutchman. “Rashy missed one game with a small knock.”

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag has three new undroppables for must-win Copenhagen[COMMENT]
United face Copenhagen in Group A of Europe’s premier club competition looking for only their second victory of the season following the last gasp win against the Danes at Old Trafford two weeks ago.
Ten Hag’s side opened their Champions League campaign with a 4-3 defeat at Bayern Munich in September and were then embarrassed by Galatasaray at Old Trafford as the Turkish side ran out 3-2 winners. It then took an Andre Onana penalty save in the 97th minute of the home clash with Copenhagen last month for United to secure their first European victory of the season. And Ten Hag’s side will be going all out for victory in Denmark ahead of their final two group matches.
