Manchester United and England great Sir Bobby Charlton dies aged 86
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has warned Erik ten Hag that he could be out of a job if Manchester United lose another “two or three more games” on the bounce. The Red Devils have got off to a laboured start to their season and recently endured a three-match losing streak before back-to-back victories against Sheffield United and FC Copenhagen broke the rut.
However, neither win was particularly convincing especially their last outing against FC Copenhagen where under-fire shot-stopper Andre Onana saved a last-gasp penalty to secure United their first three points in Europe by the narrowest of margins.
Despite a brilliant maiden campaign in charge at Old Trafford, winning the League Cup and securing United Champions League football, a recent upturn in results has thrown Ten Hag into the firing line. Keown is concerned by United’s unconvincing displays and believes Ten Hag may be “out of his depth”.
“I don’t see convincing performances from Manchester United at the moment. I see scrambling over the line wins,” Keown told talkSPORT. “They don’t control games and they have the players to do that. Then you look at the manager and you wonder if he’s out of his depth.”
United head into this Sunday’s derby game against Manchester City placed eighth in the table. Although the Citizens haven’t been at their best so far this season either, Keown finds it hard to see any other result than a win for the Sky Blues.
“This game [Manchester derby] puts him under huge pressure but they’re not expected to win that game so it’s almost a bonus for them, I do see City winning it,” he added. “If this was Mourinho in the situation then I’m pretty certain all the former players would be on the bandwagon saying they want him out.

“I don’t know if his [Ten Hag’s] public relations are very good but what I’m seeing with my own eyes, I don’t see a convincing performance. Because he’s getting results, he’s in there fighting and he’s got a chance.
“This is the biggest opportunity they’ll get at the weekend, but I don’t see Man City slipping on again. It can’t happen. Potentially he’s out of his depth it looks like he is right now. They’re just hanging on to get results. If he goes on another run of two or three defeats I think he’s out the door.”
