Man Utd eye £34m star, Chelsea swap deal, Newcastle target ‘very likely’ to move

Manchester United and Chelsea are among the Premier League clubs looking to do transfer business ahead of the January transfer window. There are just over two months until the market opens again and teams are already getting plans in place.

United made it two league wins in a row on Saturday but Erik ten Hag’s squad has been stretched to the limit and the potential investment of Sir Jim Ratcliffe could help the Dutchman add depth. Chelsea are languishing in 10th place and will likely be busy in January despite spending £1billion in the last three windows.

Phillips ‘very likely’ to leave

Kalvin Phillips is ‘very likely’ to leave Manchester City in January, claims Fabrizio Romano.

Newcastle are interested in signing the England midfielder amid Sandro Tonali’s impending ban.

Phillips has played just 70 minutes in the Premier League so far this season.

Romano says the former Leeds star will attempt to break into the City side by January.

But an exit looks to be on the cards if he is unable to do so.

Chelsea swap deal

Chelsea could look to strike a swap deal with Barcelona.

Spanish outlet Sport claims the Blues are interested in signing 16-year-old wonderkid Pau Cubarsi.

Chelsea’s interest was knocked back in the summer but they remain keen on the young centre-back.

And with Barca interested in signing Ian Maatsen, a swap deal could be arranged.

Cubarsi is said to be open to moving to Stamford Bridge and including Maatsen in a deal could mean Chelsea don’t have to pay his release clause of around £13m.

Man Utd eye £34.8m star

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato claims United and Paris Saint-Germain are two teams keeping an eye on his progress.

Reijnders only joined Milan from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the summer but has had an impressive start to life at the San Siro.

The report claims Reijnders would attract a fee of around £34.8m, double the £17.4m Milan paid in the summer.

He would add to the list of former Eredivisie players Erik ten Hag has signed at Old Trafford.
