Erik ten Hag’s position at Man Utd is being questioned by some
Manchester United are lining up a move in the January transfer window with the view of potentially replacing Casemiro after less than two years at the club, according to reports. The Red Devils could land a transfer blow on Liverpool by luring one of Jurgen Klopp’s reported targets to Old Trafford next year.
Ten Hag hasn’t been shy in recruiting new midfielders since becoming United manager last summer, adding five to his ranks across three transfer windows.
Most recently, United splashed £60million to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea in the summer before securing an £8.5m season-long loan deal for Sofyan Amrabat.
Casemiro was among Ten Hag’s first signings in Manchester, joining for £70m from Real Madrid, a fee many baulked at given he arrived at the age of 30.
Despite a successful first season as a United player, Casemiro’s form has fallen off a cliff this term. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is said to have questioned the signing before he reportedly inherits sporting control as early as next week.
It has sparked suggestions that Casemiro could leave United next summer amid interest from the Saudi Pro League.
And Ten Hag is reportedly eyeing up a potential replacement who has been strongly linked with a Premier League switch in recent months.

According to Football Transfers, United have made an approach for Fluminense midfielder Andre, who is expected to leave his homeland for Europe this winter.
The report claims United have joined numerous Premier League clubs, including Fulham, in contacting Fluminense about the 22-year-old.
Andre helped the Brazilian giants lift the Copa Libertadores earlier this month, defeating Boca Juniors 2-1 in a hard-fought final.
They are said to value him between £26m and £35m but have yet to receive any concrete bids.

Liverpool have been credited as suitors for Andre in the build-up to the January transfer window, but United may not have to worry about their Anfield rivals in the running.
The report adds that the Reds have moved on to alternative targets to add to Klopp’s new-look midfield after a summer exodus in the department.
Game time will reportedly be an important factor Andre considers before choosing his next club, which may be difficult for United to offer while Casemiro is at the club.
Ten Hag could offer Andre assurances of his status as the 31-year-old’s long-term successor, though, to help a deal get over the line in the new year.
