Four Man Utd games Andre Onana could miss as goalkeeper named in Cameroon squad
Manchester United could ruin their chances of signing Ryan Gravenberch by selling Scott McTominay to Bayern Munich. The German giants will reportedly let their rangy midfielder go if they can find a replacement, with Liverpool currently front-running in transfer talks.
The Reds are believed to have made a breakthrough in negotiations for Gravenberch on Wednesday. Although the move is not guaranteed to happen, Liverpool are expected to submit a formal bid after gauging Bayern’s financial demands.
According to The Athletic, Thomas Tuchel’s side will only sanction Gravenberch’s exit if they can find a midfield replacement. McTominay is believed to be one of the names on Bayern’s hit list, with United valuing the 26-year-old at £45million.
Given that Liverpool are currently more advanced than United in talks for Gravenberch, selling McTominay to Bayern would effectively pave the way for the Dutchman to move to Anfield.

The Red Devils may therefore be wary of inadvertently assisting their bitter rivals. Erik ten Hag could ultimately avoid being put in a difficult position as Bayern are reportedly exploring alternative targets alongside McTominay.
Fulham star Joao Palhinha and Tottenham ace Eric Dier are both believed to be under consideration, with Tuchel tapping into the Premier League talent he grew to know well during his spell at Chelsea.

United are already on thin ice in their pursuit of Gravenberch, who would reportedly prefer a move to Liverpool instead. The 21-year-old only started three Bundesliga matches last season and is desperate to secure frequent game time.
Gravenberch broke through as a teenager with Ajax and has 11 senior caps for the Netherlands under his belt. Standing at 6ft 3in tall, the youngster has the physical stature to slot straight into a Premier League midfield.
Although Gravenberch has admirers at Old Trafford – not least in former Ajax boss Ten Hag – United are still pushing on in their chase for Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat.
The Moroccan has been training away from the Viola first team for weeks while waiting for the Red Devils to make their move. Time is running out for Ten Hag and co ahead of Friday night’s transfer deadline.
