Football Digest: Man Utd urged to give Ten Hag time he needs
Manchester United should explore the idea of signing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah as he would offer an upgrade on Rasmus Hojlund, according to former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood. Nketiah had an afternoon to remember against Sheffield United last weekend, with the 24-year-old scoring an impressive hat-trick in a 5-0 thrashing of the Blades.
His tally for the season now stands at five goals in 10 matches after taking up a more prominent role in the absence of Gabriel Jesus, who was injured earlier in the season. He went on to pick up another injury against Sevilla and is expected to be sidelined for an indefinite period, allowing Nketiah to take centre stage once again.
Sherwood believes that Nketiah is unfortunate to have found himself behind Jesus in the Arsenal pecking order and is good enough to start for many other sides in the Premier League, including United.
“I feel sorry for Eddie because people always, even Arsenal fans, always asking questions about him and look at what he can’t do,” said Sherwood on Sky Sports. “I like to look at what they can do. He can play in a lot of teams, a lot of big teams.

“You’re telling me this boy couldn’t play for Man United at the moment instead of Hojlund? He’s an upgrade on Hojlund. They spent an awful lot of money on him. For me, he’s top drawer. I think he warrants playing for Arsenal at the top of the Premier League.”
Sherwood went on to suggest that playing alongside Jesus has helped Nketiah to reach his full potential with the Gunners, who will be relying on him to keep providing the goals until the Brazilian forward recovers.

“Jesus will help him out massively as well,” added Sherwood. “We are always looking for something else and I think we should appreciate what we’ve got in front of our nose. That boy has come through the academy, he has had opportunities to leave, he didn’t want to leave the football club.
“He’s got a right to stay there and fight for his place. I think Mikel [Arteta] is recognising that the boy really wants to play for the club. He’s put the armband on there today with a match ball under his arm. What a proud moment for him and his family.”
