Four potential transfer targets for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has revealed that as many as four key players could be missing for the Gunners against Bournemouth this weekend. The north Londoners are facing a mini injury crisis at present, with several big-name stars not training alongside the rest of their team-mates as things stand.
Bukayo Saka picked up a knock against Tottenham last weekend and looks set to miss out when Arsenal face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday. Declan Rice was also injured against Spurs, with Arteta explaining on Friday that neither player has trained this week as a result.
The Spaniard went on to reveal that Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli could also be forced to sit out against the Cherries, saying: “He [Rice] hasn’t trained yet. We have another session in an hour or two. More news today. Martinelli hasn’t trained, Trossard, same situation. Saka, same situation.”
Things could get even worse for Arsenal on the injury front ahead of Saturday’s game at Bournemouth, with Arteta adding that William Saliba and Fabio Vieira may also remain sidelined after they were left out of the squad that faced Brentford in midweek.

“Let’s see how everybody is today,” said Arteta, with Arsenal’s final training session of the week set to take place this afternoon. “They weren’t selected, they weren’t fit enough to be in the squad. That’s it. My hope is that everybody is fit and available. We need them.”
Arteta was also questioned about Kai Havertz, who has struggled to set the world alight since joining Arsenal from Chelsea over the summer. The German forward is yet to hit the ground running in north London but Arteta is still optimistic that he will eventually come good as he continues to gel with his new team-mates.

“We’re trying to help him as much as possible, be next to him, give him the tools and exploit his talents,” explained the Arsenal boss. “There are so many parts of his game that he’s doing well. There’s one that we all know needs to improve.
“He needs to glide into the time. The amount of times he’s played with the left unit is three times or four times. We try to give him as much as support as possible.”
