Mohamed Salah showed his true colours in ensuring that both of the LASK players who asked for his shirt after Liverpool’s Europa League tie on Thursday night got his jersey. Salah scored Liverpool’s third from the penalty spot as the Reds cruised to a 4-0 victory over the Austrian side at Anfield.
The three points ensure that the Merseyside outfit are through to the knockout stages while LASK remain rock bottom of Group E. Salah was subbed off early in the second half but made his way back onto the pitch to celebrate with his team after the final whistle was blown.
As he acknowledged the fans, he was approached by a couple of LASK players, who were desperate to swap shirts. Forward Moses Usor went over to the Salah to ask first while another player approached out of frame.
Although there was only one game-worn shirt to go around, Salah came up with a quick solution. “I’ll give you a second one inside,” said the Egyptian star to the other player, who had asked after Usor. A classy move from a classy player.
Speaking during his post-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp revealed his delight with his team’s performance as they sailed through to the round of 16 with a game to spare. “Two top results for us tonight in the group. It was clear, with the defeat at Toulouse we made it a bit more tricky, but because of our result and their result [tonight] we are now top of the table and that will not change,” he said.
“That’s good, very important in the busy, busy, busy schedule we have from now on. [There were] a lot of positives in the game, a lot of good football. The thing I didn’t like too much, and told the boys at half-time, [was] this game should have been put to bed already at half-time.

“A third, fourth, fifth goal… you cannot play better, you cannot set it up better, [but] you can finish it better obviously, but we didn’t. So, what was it? Fifty-something [minutes] when we scored the third? That’s then very helpful as well.
“We made changes and lost a bit of rhythm. Then you see immediately, if you don’t play you will not stay in charge of the game. If you lose balls in the wrong moment, LASK was there, had chances.
“Caoimhin worked for his clean sheet, which he desperately wanted, and that’s good. Scored a fourth goal in the last minute or whatever, so result top, performance really good [and] nobody got injured. All good.”
The 23/24 home shirt for Liverpool pays homage to the past of the club, as well as collaborator Nike, with a strong 1970s influence. The iconic red, capped with bold white cuffs and collar really does invoke that classic Liverpool FC style while adding a cool retro touch
