Jose Mourinho was back to his old tricks on Sunday as he was shown a straight red in stoppage time for mocking Monza’s bench.
Moments after Stephan El Shaarawy scored a late winner for Roma, Mourinho turned to the opposition bench and taunted them with gestures that they talk too much and cry too much.
Mourinho was swiftly shown a straight red card and he will now miss Roma’s next match against Inter Milan, his former team.
‘I made some gestures, I said nothing offensive,’ he told Sky Italia afterwards.
‘It was because last season some talented people, but lacking in experience, had some nasty words about us.

‘Today the only ones making a show on the touchline and trying to pressure the referee were Monza.
‘I am honest, they are a good team and did not deserve to lose today.’
Referee Giovanni Ayroldi added on seven minutes at the end and that sparked an altercation between Mourinho and Monza manager Raffaele Palladino.
Palladino would then make a plea to the referee, which later triggered Mourinho’s ‘cry baby’ gesture.
‘You talk a lot and then you cry,’ Mourinho is said to have told Palladino, according to Roma Press.

He was soon given his marching orders and he will now miss their next match against Inter
It means that for a second year in a row Mourinho has been sent off on the eve of facing Inter Milan.
Twelve months ago Mourinho was sent off after going ballistic with the match referee against Atalanta.
That day Mourinho was incensed when Nicolo Zaniolo, now at Aston Villa, was not awarded a penalty.
He was so angry that he stormed onto the pitch and had to be held back by security as he tried to get to the referee.
