Man Utd 0 Bournemouth 3: David McDonnell’s verdict
Gary Neville believes that Manchester United’s dismal defeat at home to Bournemouth could have been significantly worse, claiming that the shocking 3-0 scoreline flattered his former side. Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure after overseeing a run of 11 defeats in 23 matches so far this season.
Ten Hag was awarded the Premier League’s Manager of the Month for November after picking up three victories from three, but the inconsistency plaguing United came to the fore in cup competitions, with two defeats and a draw from ties in the Champions League and Carabao Cup.
The same inconsistency was on full display this week as United followed up their triumph against Chelsea by suffering a miserable 3-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth.
And Neville, who made over 600 first-team appearances for the Red Devils, believes that Ten Hag got off lightly by seeing his side concede three. “I’ve just watched the highlights on the Sky Sports website and 3-0 looks like a good result!” he wrote on X.

That followed an earlier post reacting to United’s first ever home defeat against the Cherries, which read: “Consistently inconsistent! An abysmal result.”
Dominic Solanke, Philip Billing and Marcos Senesi notched for Bournemouth on Saturday, and Dango Ouattara temporarily put United a staggering four goals down before his stoppage-time effort was disallowed for a handball.

Ten Hag risks Man Utd breakdown as four signs suggest days could be numbered[COMMENT]
Ten Hag is under pressure to inspire a consistent run of results ahead of the club announcing Sir Jim Ratcliffe as their new part-owner next week. The British billionaire is set to purchase a 25-per-cent stake which comes with a degree of authority over sporting decisions, including who should be in the dugout.
United could find themselves out of the Champions League unless they beat Bayern Munich on Tuesday and results elsewhere go their way. Following that is a daunting trip to Liverpool, who are in the midst of a Premier League title battle with Arsenal and Manchester City.
“Last season we talked about Old Trafford being a fortress,” said United captain Bruno Fernandes after the Bournemouth defeat. “We didn’t lose a home match for a long time. Now we’re having difficulty getting results away and at home.
“We need to be more consistent. We have a good team. We know we have to win the next match and have a favourable result in the other match. We have to do our job. We are more than capable of it.”
