PSG fan ‘attacks random member of the public’ as fans march in Newcastle

A PSG fan was spotted punching a 'random member of the public' as fans marched around Newcastle before their Champions League contest.

PSG ultras were seen marching in their numbers while chanting before the fixture in which Eddie Howe's side ran out 4-1 winners. In one clip shared to social media, a fan of the Ligue 1 outfit approaches a member of the public.

Without saying a word, the fan throws a right-handed punch towards the face of the target before slipping back into the group. The clip was posted after Keith Downie of Sky Sports detailed some of the pre-match clashes.

He reported that PSG 'ultras' were led to St James' Park by police as fighting broke out between fans on Barrack Road.

He added that bottles, cones and missiles were thrown in the street brawl and it all took place up to 90 minutes before the game kicked off.

Another video posted by Sky Sports showed PSG fans clashing with local police after hundreds of fans took over the city centre earlier in the day.

Photos showed one fan being held by police in scenes that marred the hours leading up to the historic victory for the hosts.

Miguel Almiron opened the scoring with Dan Burn grabbing a second after a lengthy VAR check.

Sean Longstaff made it three after Lucas Hernandez got one back for Luis Enrique's side – before Fabian Schar's screamer made it four.

Eddie Howe said on TNT Sport: "Amazing evening for us, so many stories to talk about within the game.

"I am delighted for the club and the supporters what they gave us tonight was incredible.

"They [PSG] are such a good team we had to defend really well and our spirit was brilliant. We created the positive things in the first-half and the aggressive pressing which is a haul mark of ours."
