Punters lose bets over ‘no Bissouma fouls’ despite red card for dangerous tackle

Two unlucky footie fans were left seething after they missed out on landing bets despite Tottenham's Yves Bissouma being sent off.

On Friday night, Spurs dispatched Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, claiming a 2-0 away win thanks to goals from Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski. And two football fans watching the action in Nottingham unfold were left fuming at full-time when they checked their betting slips to see they had missed out on landing an accumulator days before Christmas due to Yves Bissouma having not committed a foul.

The only issue was, Bissouma was in fact handed his second red card of the season against Nottingham Forest leaving some supporters confused. On 70 minutes, the Spurs star was dismissed after an awkward challenge saw his studs make contact with the shin of Forest midfielder Ryan Yates.

A VAR check ensued, with Bissouma handed his marching orders shortly after. But of course, that left the two punters in question bemused as to why their accumulators hadn't come in.

"Are you having a laugh @paddypower," wrote one of the punters on X, formerly Twitter, attaching a screenshot of his bet, which only lost due to the bookies not checking off Bissouma's 'player to commit one or more foul' selection.

Another then chimed in with the same issue, writing: "Same boat as you! They don't allow for goals ruled out by VAR so why wouldn't they allow for referee mistakes on fouls??" also attaching his betting slip.

And it seems as though the reason for Bissouma's selection not being awarded by Paddy Power was due to referee Jarred Gillett never actually awarding a foul, despite sending the Spurs star off. In real time, Gillett waved play on for advantage, only to then give Bissouma a yellow card when the ball went out of play.

And then following that decision, VAR then intervened, leading to Bissouma's dismissal. He will now miss Tottenham's next four Premier League games.
