Real reason Premier League appeared to block Sidemen Charity Game on YouTube

A technological error was to blame after a video of the Sidemen Charity Match on YouTube appeared to have been blocked by the Premier League, Daily Star Sport understands.

The top-flight came in for huge stick on social media on Monday as X users noticed that a stream of the match, which was held at the London Stadium earlier this month, was blocked due to "copyright reasons."

A message read: "This video contains content from FA Premier League, who has blocked it on copyright grounds." A post on social media was shared by one gutted viewer who was unable to watch the full live stream of the game.

However, Daily Star Sport understands that the block on the content was as a result of a technological error to do with YouTube, and not because of a copyright issue, as the message read.

The stream, which was not impacted at the time it was live, is now back online for viewers to enjoy.

The Sidemen, whose starting line-up at the London Stadium included KSI, JME, Wroetoshaw, Calfreezy, Lazarbeam, Mr Beast, Behzinga, TBJZL, Zerkaa, Minminter and Vikkstar123, ran out 8-5 winners against the YouTube All-Stars.

The match, which saw 62,000 tickets sold, generated an impressive £2.4million for charity, with KSI and Logan Paul donating £250,000 themselves.

It was the fifth charity match involving the Sidemen, who are now on a three match winning streak, adding to victories in 2018 and 2022. They also won the first fixture in 2016, running out 7-2 victors.

The YouTube All-Stars secured their first win in 2017 but have been unable to replicate that success since. This year's YouTube All-Stars included Niko Omilana, Sean “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin, Jidion Adams, Max Fosh and Darren “IShowSpeed” Watkins Jr.
