Richard Keys mocked Manchester United after their hard-fought 0-0 draw against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday and insisted ‘Crystal Palace could have done’ the same as Erik ten Hag’s side.

The controversial figure wasn’t impressed as United survived a potential at drubbing against their fiercest rivals where they had lost 7-0 last season.

United arrived low on confidence and struggling for form after crashing out of the Champions League earlier in the week, but left Merseyside having become the first team to stop Liverpool winning at Anfield this season.

Visiting manager Ten Hag insisted after the match that he was ‘very proud’ of his team’s battling performance. Keys insists United only avoided defeat because Liverpool didn’t play well.

‘Manchester United, well done. Crystal Palace could have done that,’ Keys sarcastically quipped on beIN SPORTS coverage of the match.

‘That’s a triumph then for Manchester United. They will feel that’s the type of form that will take them on to win the league.

‘Where they are is comparative to where Crystal Palace are? Lets not get too carried away, if Liverpool had played well – and they didn’t they would have one that game.

‘Their passing was slow, they were overplaying, Alexander-Arnold is another debate whether he should be playing in there or not,’ he said.

Former United striker Dwight Yorke was in the studio alongside Keys and fought his former employers corner as they came under criticism from the show’s host,

Yorke scored 152 goals for United during his time at the club and also won three Premier League crowns, the Champions League and an FA Cup during his time at Old Trafford.

The 52-year-old blasted Keys’ critical comments and fumed that ‘not a lot of people had given’ United a chance at Anfield prior to the match.

‘They deserve credit and that’s the most important thing. Not a lot of people had given us a chance here, even I had doubts thinking can we score a goal, get a point? I would be delighted with those things?

Keys had the last word: ‘Wow well done Manchester United.’
