Richarlison made comical mistake seconds after Tottenham goal

Tottenham star Richarlison hilariously nearly messed up team-mate Dejan Kulusevski’s pre-planned goal celebration against Nottingham Forest by hammering the ball into the stands, new footage has shown. Spurs earned their second consecutive Premier League victory with a 2-0 victory over Forest.

Richarlison and Kulusevski were both on the scoresheet. The Brazilian forward bagged his fourth goal of the season in first-half stoppage time before Kulusevski added a second in the 65th minute.

But the Sweden international’s celebration was almost scuppered by the jubilant Richarlison. Kulusevski had clearly intended to mark his goal by placing the ball under his shirt.

But the ball which he scored with had been kicked high into the stands by Richarlison after Kulusevski’s shot hit the net. In a comical moment captured by Spurs’ social media channels, Kulusevski is seen wondering where the ball has gone before scrambling to find another one.

Richarlison retrieves a spare ball from a ballboy before handing it to his team-mate. Kulusevski is then able to complete his celebration.

Spurs held on to secure an important win against Forest despite Yves Bissouma’s 70th-minute red card. Ange Postecoglou’s side are now back on track after a five-match winless run, having also defeated Newcastle 4-1 last weekend.

Postecoglou has been impressed by Richarlison since the 26-year-old’s return from a groin injury. The Australian on Friday: “Richy’s been good and he was good again tonight. Not an easy game, we weren’t going to get a lot of space back there. His impact is in the box.

“It was a great ball by Deki and that’s what Richy’s really good at. His timing in the air, his ability to get the ball in the back of the net in those kind of situations was vital for us tonight.

“He’s in a better space physically and mentally. It was hard for him but he soldiered on. At the same time he knows that people will be assuming that if he’s out there then you’re going to perform at a certain level and you can’t make excuses.

“He’s feeling a lot better about himself physically and mentally now. For a striker, scoring goals is obviously important, but just his general all-round play has been really good for us the last couple of weeks.”
