Yves Bissouma was sent off for diving seconds before the half-time whistle as Tottenham were reduced to 10 men in their Premier League game against Luton Town on Saturday. The midfielder was booked twice in quick succession in the first half and he could have no complaints after an unnecessary dive earned him an early bath at Kenilworth Road, leaving Ange Postecoglou’s side facing an uphill task.
Spurs had been frustrated by the plucky hosts after a battling display from the newly-promoted side, who are yet to win at home this season, with Dejan Kulusevski going closest for Postecoglou’s men.
Just minutes later, though, they were rocked by the dismissal of Bissouma, who had been booked for a cynical challenge on Chiedozie Ogbene in the 39th minute by referee John Brooks.
And he tested the referee’s patience too much with an ill-judged moment of madness to receive his marching orders.
