Arsenal V Tottenham: Pictures
Tottenham have reached an agreement to sign Croatian wonderkid Luka Vuskovic from Hajduk Split. The 16-year-old defender is already a regular at senior level, and he is expected to join up with Ange Postecoglou’s Londoners in two years’ time.
Vuskovic is the youngest player to feature in the Croatian top flight. Already a towering 6ft 4in tall, the youngster began turning heads when he made his first-team debut only two days after his 16th birthday.
A brief statement on Tottenham’s official website began: “We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement for Luka Vuskovic to join the Club in 2025 from Hajduk Split, in a deal that will run until 2030.”
Postecoglou will hope that Vuskovic continues to progress in his homeland before transitioning to the Premier League once he turns 18.

The talented young defender was promoted to the first team after inspiring the Under-19s to a UEFA Youth League final in 2022/23. Vuskovic is racing his way through Croatia’s youth ranks, and he is currently a starter with the Under-17s.
Hajduk Split are top of the Croatian Football League, having started the campaign with six wins from their first eight games.

Postecoglou has shaken up Tottenham’s defence since being appointed earlier this summer. The transition from a back-five to a back-four has made minutes more difficult to come by at centre-back, with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven the starting duo at present.
Eric Dier and Ben Davies are waiting in the wings for a chance to impress, while 18-year-old Ashley Phillips is yet to be given his first senior minutes after signing from Blackburn Rovers in the summer.
The make-up of Tottenham’s squad may have changed significantly by the time Vuskovic flies the nest in 2025. But early indications suggest that Postecoglou will be given every chance to become a long-term success at Spurs after a promising first few weeks at the helm.
The Lilywhites maintained their unbeaten start to the season by drawing at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, twice coming from behind against bitter rivals Arsenal to take their share of the spoils.
