West Ham United have reportedly ended their interest in signing former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard despite him training with the Hammers since August.

Lingard spent last season at Nottingham Forest but failed to make an impact as his side stayed in the Premier League.

He has been a free agent since leaving Forest at the end of last season, and has been training with West Ham since August 14.

However, as reported by The Athletic, the Irons are no longer interesed in signing Lingard.

The England midfielder will now train with Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq in a bid to earn a contract in Saudi Arabia.

He will have some familiar faces in the Middle East as Jordan Henderson and Demarai Gray both signed for the Saudi side this summer.

It remains to be seen as to whether the ex-United star can earn himself a contract after failing to do so at West Ham.

The Irons have recruited smartly this summer after seeing Declan Rice depart the club for a £100million fee to Arsenal.

Edson Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus joined from Ajax while James Ward-Prowse has had a fine start to life in London after moving from Southampton.

David Moyes’ side sit 6th in the Premier League with three wins, one draw and one loss at the start of the season.

They travel to Anfield on Sunday as they look to bounce back from last week’s defeat to Manchester City.

But they will be doing so without Lingard, with a decision being made on his future by Moyes and his staff.
