Australian bad boy Nick Kyrgios may have left fans disappointed by missing the 2023 season through injury but the tennis star has come up with an interesting alternative way to provide a fix to his legion of followers. The 28-year-old has signed a deal to join the controversial social media site OnlyFans where he will offer subscribers the chance to access a range of exclusive content including photos and videos of tips and tricks as well as his ‘intimate side’.
Kyrgios will not return from the sidelines in time to compete at the Australian Open in January, but will instead keep himself busy with his new side-hustle.
Confirming the news in a statement, he said: “They are revolutionizing social media and I wanted to be a part of that. Athletes can no longer just show up on the court or the field. We have to show up online too. I want to create, produce, direct and own content. That’s the future.
“Of course, there’ll be tennis balls involved, tips, tricks and behind the scenes, but also they’ll get to see all different sides of me. Gaming, tattoos, my intimate side – it’s all on the table and I’ll be bringing fans along for the ride!”
Kyrgios has developed a reputation for being outspoken off the court which has landed him in hot water with tennis authorities on more than one occassion. But his profile is ideal for the OnlyFans platform, according to the social media company themselves.
OnlyFans chief executive Keily Blair said: “Nick is a disruptor, so it’s great to see him joining our platform, finding new ways to share his content and express himself. We can’t wait to see what he has in store for his fans.”
Kyrgios’ OnlyFans page is designed to be free-to-access but it remains to be seen just what extent his online content will stretch to. Influencers and celebrities are known to use the platform to publish erotic and sometimes X-rated content, normally for a subscription fee.
The Australian is by no means the first sportsperson to sign up with the platform. Several others have already found success and a new income stream by signing up to the site.
Paige VanZant was a mixed martial arts competitor in the flyweight division of UFC before she joined OnlyFans after being released in 2020. The 29-year-old has a VIP account and charges punters £8 a month to access her glamorous content. VanZant claims that she has earned more from working with OnlyFans than she ever did in six years on the UFC circuit.
Motoracing driver Renee Gracie had a career in V8 Supercars but her OnlyFans side hustle became a problem after she started uploading pornographic images and videos for fans, resulting in her being banned from the sport. She doesn’t appear too bothered however as she has since amassed over 662,000 likes on OnlyFans and has claimed to have surpassed more than £4.8m in earnings by 2021.
US gymnast Erica Fontaine charges £8 a month to access her private page which features erotic content of the Miami-born athlete. Canadian pole vaulter Alysha Newman starred at the Toyko Olympics but now makes an estimated £780,000 a year from OnlyFans, according to Marca.

Former English footballer Madeline Wright was sacked by Charlton Athletic in 2021 after several controversial videos of her surfaced on social media. But she used her new-found notoriety to launch her own private account where she charges fans £18 for a monthly subscription. According to the Mail, she is believed to be pocketing over £500,000 a year from the platform.
Other successful sports convertees include UFC star Ebanie Bridges and Olympic bronze medalist basketball player Liz Cambage.
Not everyone needs to join OnlyFans to benefit from controversial brand associations however. Veteran golfer John Daly is sponsored by outlandish hospitality chain Hooters. The 57-year-old even wore a pair of bright orange trousers with Hooters written all over them at this year’s Open Championship in Hoylake.
As far as Express Sport is aware, he is not planning to open an OnlyFans account any time soon.
