Leon Edwards is ready and waiting to agree his return to the UFC octagon.
The welterweight champion defended his title in a trilogy decider against Kamaru Usman back in March with Dana White swiftly announcing that Colby Covington was next in line for a title shot. However, the UFC CEO has not been able to offer a firm update – but Leon's brother Fabian has told fans that an announcement isn't far off.
Speaking to Daily Star Sport before he bids to become a world champion in his own right at Bellator 299, Fabian said: "Fans keep asking but he's ready to go, he's ready to get in there it's just about the negotiations. It's about location and so many things.

"At the moment the focus is on me and I'm in the cage but he's training and ready. It's great having him there if we need to lean on each other, having a champion that's been there and done it."
The older of the Edwards brothers initially expressed confusion over the Covington plan, with the American not fighting since a decision win over the now-retired Jorge Masvidal in March of 2022.

Edwards (21-3) was planning on fighting in Abu Dhabi in October after the second London card of the year in July came around too soon.
UFC 294 takes place on October 21, which would give five weeks of preparation with an imminent announcement. UFC 295 provides the final PPV card of the year on November 11 at Maddison Square Garden in New York, with Jon Jones taking on Stipe Miocic in the headline fight.
The time for talking is almost over as KSI and Tommy Fury will bury their rivarly once and for all as they face off in Manchester on Saturday, October 14th. Logan Paul will also be fighting at the event in front of what is expected to be a sell-out crowd.

The attention of the Edwards brothers is for now on Fabian's Bellator title shot against Johnny Eblen in Dublin on September 23 in Dublin. When asked if fans might see a repeat of the fifth-round knockout that earned this brother the UFC crown, Edwards concluded: "No way. It'll be done earlier than that."
Fans can tune into Bellator 299: Eblen vs Edwards live from the 3Arena, Dublin, on BBC iPlayer from 9pm on Saturday 23rd September.
