Glenn Maxwell has made history in India after hitting fastest World Cup hundred ever to put Australia in control of their match with the Netherlands.
Amid a mini collapse of four wickets for just 56 runs, Maxwell came to the crease and blasted 101 off just 41 balls in a staggering innings that has seen his name etched in the history books.
Maxwell was, at one point, on 35 runs off 21 balls, before putting his foot on the gas to hit 66 off the following 19 balls.
He reached three figures with a huge uppercut six, which rocketed into the stands behind square leg.
The short-format specialist celebrated his incredible knock by pretending to cradle a baby, having welcomed his newborn son Logan recently.

Maxwell lost his wicket shortly after reaching the milestone. He went for another big six, but failed to time his shot well.
Sybrand Engelbrecht caught him at long on after waiting under the ball for a lengthy period.
The previous record was set by Aiden Markram earlier in the tournament, when he hit a 49-ball century against Sri Lanka, but Maxwell’s effort will take some beating now.
‘That is outrageous,’ Shane Watson said on commentary.
‘A complete and utter barrage.’
Another record was broken during Australia’s innings, with Dutch star Bas de Leede conceding the most runs by a bowler at the World Cup.
His 115 runs shipped were the highest conceded since South Africa’s Mark Lewis gave away 113 against Australia at the 2006 tournament.
