Netflix ‘exploring live boxing & want Jake Paul bout’ – with fans already hyped

Netflix could be about to make Jake Paul the face of a potential sporting project.

The YouTube star has attracted attention from the boxing world ever since he decided to turn his hand to fighting professionally back in 2020. 2023 has seen 'The Problem Child' fight twice, with Paul facing off against Tommy Fury earlier this year in Saudi Arabia, before taking on UFC star Nate Diaz back in August.

The February bout against Fury saw Paul suffer his first defeat, while he returned months later to defeat Diaz at the American Airlines Center in Texas during the summer. And boxing fans might be about to see Paul's face plastered somewhere else, after it was reported Netflix are said to be interested in getting into the live sports coverage business.

The Wall Street Journal report Netflix are said to be keen on live streaming boxing, with talks centred around a potential match featuring Paul. Currently Paul, who is set to return to the ring on December 15 against an unnamed opponent, has a deal in place with DAZN, which could complicate matters.

However, earlier this year, the streaming service released 'Untold: Jake Paul The Problem Child', which was a documentary that took fans behind the scenes of Paul's life and training regime prior to his bout against Fury in Diriyah – meaning Paul already has a pre-existing relationship with Netflix that could lead to him appearing on their platform for a fight.

And it appears fans on social media would be keen on seeing Netflix enter the world of live streaming sports. One fan writing about the news said: "Do it. That Jake Paul documentary with Netflix was nice."

A second added: "That would be insane." A third commented: "If this ever was to happen, would be a great move for Netflix. Netflix needs to be an entertainment hub, not just a film/series streaming site."

Sky Sports is bringing you 500 live football games to watch, as well access to Cricket, Golf, F1, Boxing, NFL, NBA and more across eight dedicated channels. Sky Sports is the only way to watch all the action this year.
