Poor start for Smith
Fair to say it’s not the start Cameron Smith wanted in his return to Brisbane. He’s dropped a shot with a bogey on his opening hole at the 10th after leaving himself an awkward up and down from the left side of the green, shelling the par putt from about 8 feet.
Min Woo Lee and Robert MacIntyre are safely in for par. Smith did start this event very slowly last year before running away on the Sunday. Reckon he might still be wiping away the sleep from under his eyes.
Tee times for the big names
Smith tees off
Cameron Smith has just teed off on the 10th hole in the opening round. How do you know you’re in Queensland? He wasn’t introduced as the former British Open champion and world No.2, but as the “Brisbane Broncos’ No.1 fan”.

Anyways, he’s off with Scottish star Robert MacIntyre and Min Woo Lee in the second group of the morning. Only a few hundred hearty souls out here at 6.10am Brisbane time. Conditions are absolutely perfect at the moment with a potential of rain forecast for later in the day.
Is golf’s civil war over?
Adam Scott, one of the most influential players in shaping world golf’s future, admitted he’s still unsure whether the agreement to end the sport’s civil war will be formalised before the end of the year.
Australia’s lone Masters winner, Scott, who is the peer-voted president of the PGA Tour’s players’ advisory council, said private-equity investment remains an option for the US-based tour.
