Leon Edwards weighed in at 170lbs ahead of his UFC welterweight title defence against Colby Covington.

His American challenger came in at 169.5lbs, meaning the contest will go full steam ahead.

Covington cut a serious figure and looked fresh as he stepped onto the scales.

There was little in the way of bravado from the American – a surprise after he made a vile joke about Edwards’ murdered late father at the UFC 296 press conference.

The clash between the two in the octagon will take place at around 5am on Sunday morning at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Edwards comes into the mouthwatering bout off the back of a majority decision victory over welterweight legend Kamaru Usman at UFC 286 back in March.

As for Covington, ‘Chaos’ is fighting for the first time in well over a year. The No 3 ranked contender defeated bitter rival Jorge Masvidal via decision in his last outing.

Their bout comes after months of back-and-forth between the two stars.

UFC 296 also sees the return of Paddy Pimblett. The Englishman has not fought since his close decision win against Jared Gordon last year and is scheduled to fight former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson.

Ian Machado Garry also features on the main card this weekend. The undefeated Irishman faces his toughest test yet in Vincente Luque.
