Max Verstappen wins third consecutive Formula One world championship
Christian Horner has revealed that his ‘heart’ remains with Red Bull, despite being linked with a move elsewhere previously. The team principal has guided his team to a dominant spot in Formula One, with Max Verstappen recently clinching his third consecutive World Championship.
Horner revealed earlier this year that he was the subject of interest from Ferrari, who were keen to lure him away from Red Bull and replace Mattia Binotto. Although ‘flattered’ by the approach, the 50-year-old rebuffed the offer and insisted that he was keen to remain with Red Bull for the foreseeable future.
Although his talks with Ferrari emerged in February, Horner’s stance remains unaltered and the Brit remains focused on guiding his team to continued success in 2024 and beyond. Asked by Motorsport.com Italia whether he has ever considered leaving Red Bull, he replied: “It’s always very flattering to receive an offer or an expression of interest from a team, but my heart is here.
“I have been here since the beginning, I built the team and I feel a responsibility towards the people who make it up, the shareholders and all the partners we have. And finally, I don’t believe much in change, I think stability is tremendously important.”

Horner spoke previously about how he feels a sense of ‘responsibility’ at Red Bull and therefore jumping ship after guiding them through poor spells to now, whilst they are enjoying such an impressive stint at the top, would certainly raise eyebrows.
Asked earlier this year whether he truly considered the offer from Ferrari, Horner said: “To be honest with you, no. I’ve been here since the very beginning, I feel very much, you know, responsible for the team.

“It’s a great group of people that I work with and I’ve never been tempted away. I feel a loyalty to Red Bull and of course the people here. When you’re working with such a great team, why would you want to be anywhere else? It’s hugely flattering to have been asked by Ferrari, but they’re a great team and I’m sure they’re going to be very competitive.”
Horner’s contract with Red Bull expires in 2026, though it is likely that the higher powers at the team attempt to tie him down to a long-term extension given the success that he has provided – especially as rivals will be monitoring his situation closely in the hope of luring him away.
