Jesse Lingard shares training montage on social media

Jesse Lingard shares training montage on social media with the former Man United star STILL looking for a new club after unsuccessful trials with West Ham and Al-Ettifaq

  • Jesse Lingard is still a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest in the summer
  • He’s had spells training with West Ham and Al-Ettifaq but no move materialised
  • Manchester United in a mess – they have a collapse in them – It’s All Kicking Off

Jesse Lingard has posted an update on his fitness as he continues to look for a new club.

The 30-year-old is currently a free agent having left Nottingham Forest in the summer after a disappointing season in which he provided no goals or assists in 17 Premier League appearances.

Lingard previously spent 11 years on the books at boyhood club Manchester United, which included a stunning spell on loan at West Ham during the second half of the 2020-21 campaign.

However, despite training with the Hammers in the summer and then spending a month with Steven Gerrard’s Saudi Pro League side, Al-Ettifaq, he is still without a club.

And on Thursday evening, the midfielder shared a training montage on Instagram of him being put through his paces and undertaking various drills.

Lingard was being directed by what seemed to be a personal coach and he looked in good shape, before he finished the video by saying: ‘Working baby’.

It was thought he had a good chance of earning a contract with Al-Ettifaq, especially given he scored just four minutes into their friendly against Al-Khaldiya in what was the first game he had played.

However, he ultimately left the club at the end of October without a deal.

Lingard had also been linked with a move to MLS back in the summer and spent time training at Inter Miami’s base in July.

Meanwhile, Mail Sport reported in September how Lingard’s trial at West Ham cost the club thousands of pounds as they covered his living and travel expenses while he was training with the squad.

As well as putting Lingard up in a hotel for several weeks, West Ham are understood to have arranged transport for him, as he was given a six-month driving ban earlier this summer after pleading guilty to failing to name the driver of his car when it was caught speeding last year.

Lingard spent around six weeks training with West Ham before the unsuccessful spell with Al-Ettifaq.

Lingard – who also counts Leicester City, Birmingham, Brighton and Derby among his former clubs after several spells out on loan when he was at Old Trafford – has won 32 England caps and was once a favourite of Gareth Southgate, although he has not featured for the Three Lions since 2021.
