Chelsea host Luton Town on Friday night, when they will be hoping to finally get their first win under the Argentine manager.

However, the Blues will go into the game with many players stuck on the sidelines with injuries with Mudryk the latest player to end up in the treatment room.

On Thursday, the club announced that the Ukraine winger is ‘starting rehabilitation having undergone assessments on an injury sustained in training this week’.

However, speaking in his pre-match press conference, Pochettino revealed that the 22-year-old won’t be out of action for long, suggesting he could be back in training in just a few days’ time.

‘He will be not play tomorrow. It is disappointing. He is a player we have hopes for, to help him perform the way we believe he can.

‘It is not a big issue, maybe a week or a few days to have him involved in the team.’

There was also good news regards Chukwuemeka, who was forced off against West Ham last Sunday shortly after scoring his side’s only goal of the game.

It was revealed on Tuesday that the midfielder had undergone surgery, but his manager claims the situation is not too serious, adding: ‘It is unlucky, especially to lose Carney on Sunday.

‘That is football. I am positive we will compete tomorrow.

‘Carney’s issue is not as big [as feared]. I think weeks, rather than months. Hopefully he can be back as soon as possible.

‘He scored and then got injured. It is unlucky but can be stronger. He is young and he will be much, much better.’

There was also an update on long-term absentee Armando Broja, who has been out of action since injuring his knee during the World Cup break last year.

‘We need to wait also, he is close, but the last step is difficult after the injury he suffered. Many of them [the injuries] are bad luck.

‘[Christopher] Nkunku and Carney or [Wesley] Fofana. How can you control? It’s not about training or methodology. It sometimes happens.

‘In some others, many factors can influence. It’s tough to talk in general because situations are difference. We need to talk about Carney, Broja, Mudyrk, and it is difficult to explain.

‘In general you can talk bad luck or bad training session. For sure it is bad luck in Carney, Broja, Fofana, Nkunku.’
