Punter turns £2.50 into over £6k with stunning bet on Villa and Newcastle games

One footy fan has stunningly turned £2.50 into over six grand thanks to a double bet on Aston Villa and Newcastle's victories.

Villa left Stamford Bridge with all three points on Sunday (September 24) after Ollie Watkins' second-half strike downed 10-man Chelsea. Later on Newcastle demolished Sheffield United 8-0 on their travels, setting a new Premier League record for different goalscorers in one match.

The full-time whistle of that match also landed a Betfair punter an outrageous 2639/1 longshot. Their first selection was Villa to win, have the most corners in each half and have the most shots on target in each half.

That came in comfortably before the second shout, Newcastle to have the most corners and shots on targets in each half, plus United to have the most fouls in each half. There was just one corner in it in the first half, but it was enough to complete the £6,600 win.

While they were celebrating a healthy addition to their bank balance, another Prem supporter was left commiserating after they foolishly cashed out a winning £6170 treble for just £3 – less than their fiver stake.

They'd correctly predicted the scorelines for Arsenal vs Tottenham, Brighton vs Bournemouth and Liverpool vs West Ham – 2-2, 3-1 and 3-1 – but backed out of the bet before it went on to land.

However, it's not the worst cash-out of the season so far. That honour goes to a punter who ended their 3129/1, 18-fold accumulator early for just £34.68 – costing them over £30k.
