Alcaraz’s brother wins another tournament as Williams dominance dream lives on

Tennis fans react to Carlos Alcaraz’s Wimbledon win

Carlos Alcaraz’s rising star brother Jaime has won yet another tournament as fans continue to get excited over another dominant sibling duo in tennis. The Alcaraz brothers have been touted as the sport’s next answer to the Williams sisters as the elder brother continues his Grand Slam haul.

The 20-year-old Alcaraz has already won the US Open and Wimbledon. He returns to Flushing Meadows to defend his crown this week, with his campaign starting on Tuesday.

But his 11-year-old sibling is also making waves in tennis youth tournaments. Jaime has won the U12 National Team Championships for Spain.

The youngest Alcaraz sibling won the Rafa Nadal Tour heat in the under-12 category earlier this month. He was one of the outstanding participants among 48 entries.

It comes seven years after Carlos won in the under-14 category. He also won the under-12 category in 2016. Jaime announced the news on Instagram, posting a photo of him and his team-mate with the trophy. His caption read: “Champions of Spain by teams! Vamos!”

His brother, who is preparing for the US Open, posted a touching comment. He said: “Proud of you.”

Alcaraz is closely supported by his family and teared up after mentioning another of his brothers after losing against Novak Djokovic at the Cincinnati Masters. He was defeated by Djokovic just weeks after triumphing against the Serb in the Wimbledon final.

“I feel proud of myself, honestly. I was talking and I don’t know why I was crying because I fought until the last ball. I almost beat one of the greatest of all time from our sport,” he said.

“I have my brother here as well. It’s great to have you here, supporting me every day. To make me a better person, learning from you as well. Thank you for being with me.”

Speaking ahead of the US Open, Alcaraz insists that he is not focusing on being the defending champion. He said he will play and practice as if he has not previously won a Grand Slam.

“This week, this practice week, I try to do exactly the same thing that I did last year, trying to practice the same way that I’m going to play, and focus on that,” he said. “I’m not focused on being the defending champion, the points, whatever. I’m just focus on show my best level, try to improve in every practice, and let’s see how is going to be the tournament.”
