Australian star Nick Kyrgios will miss the Australian Open for a second year in a row after succumbing to a wrist injury.
The 28-year-old had a bumper 2022 season, reaching the Wimbledon final against Novak Djokovic and winning the Australian Open doubles with good friend Thanasi Kokkinakis.

Kyrgios won the doubles at the 2022 Australian Open with Thanasi Kokkinakis and reached the Wimbledon final that same year, but has battled ever since
The Aussie star was not named in the main draw on Thursday and has confirmed on his newly created OnlyFans account that he will miss the local grand slam because of an ongoing wrist complaint.
‘Hey guys, Nick Kyrgios here, obviously had a really tough year with injury, had that knee surgery and came back a little too soon (which) set me back a little bit, obviously had some wrist issues,’ Kyrgios said.
‘So this is a very disappointing time for me but yeah I won’t be able to compete at the 2024 Australian Open.
‘Obviously heartbreaking, I’ve had so many amazing memories there and I just want to really get back to playing at the top of my game and doing it right and I need a little more time.
‘I was so close to winning a grand slam, I want to make sure that my body is going to have the time it needs to come back so please bear with me.’
Kygrios doesn’t intend on baring flesh on OnlyFans, instead provide an intimate point of access for his supporters
Kyrgios and Naomi Osaka will both be missing from the main draw of the 2024 Australian Open
It has been a frustrating year for Kyrgios but he has vowed to return to the court
Kyrgios fans won’t have to miss out completely, though, with the star drawcard announcing he will be commentating the grand slam event.
‘Even though I won’t be there competing this year at the AO, I still will be around, commentating matches, being around, I’ve got some special things planned, so please be excited still,’ he said.
‘You know I’ll be there and hopefully see all the fans, I’ll see you there.’
The Australian Open announcement comes after Kyrgios launched his new OnlyFans page, with the Aussie star vowing to reveal his ‘intimate side’ to fans.
‘Launching an OnlyFans was a no-brainer,’ Kyrgios said.
Kyrgios’s page is designed to be free-to-access, and he says he will show his ‘intimate side’ to his fans.
‘I’ve been speaking to my fans directly for years and I know what they want to see. Of course, there’ll be tennis balls involved, tips, tricks and behind the scenes, but also they’ll get to see all different sides of me. Gaming, tattoos, my intimate side – it’s all on the table and I’ll be bringing fans along for the ride!’
