Luuk de Jong reportedly kicked a door off its hinges following PSV’s needless concession against Rangers just before half-time of their first leg Champions League play-off on Tuesday.

The Dutch side enjoyed the better of the action in the first period at Ibrox, coming close through efforts from Johan Bakayoko and Noah Lang.

But Ibrahim Sangare’s lapse in concentration on the edge of his area presented Michael Beale’s team with an opportunity to go in front, which they duly accepted thanks to Abdallah Sima’s curling effort.

According to TNT Sports touchline reporter Emma Dodds, the former Barcelona striker and PSV skipper was so angered by the goal which came against the run of play that he ‘kicked a door off its hinges’ in the tunnel as he went in for the break.

Pundit and ex-Rangers striker Kenny Miller later joked that the Dutch forward should be made to foot the bill.

Peter Bosz’s outfit managed to level it up on the hour with a calm finish from Sangare, who made amends for his fault in the opener.

But Rangers hit back again. Rabbi Matonda completed a quick brilliant passage of incisive play. However, just four minutes later PSV, and De Jong, had the last word.

The striker rose highest from the corner and made enough contact to see the ball fly past Jack Butland in goal.

The topsy-turvy affair sets up a mouth-watering return leg in Eindhoven next Wednesday. Beale’s side travel to Ross County on Saturday, while PSV do not have a game this weekend.
