Man City release ‘one of most disrespectful videos ever’ to enrage Man Utd fans

The rivalry between Manchester City and Manchester United has taken a major tilt towards the blue half in recent years.

Between City's men's and women's teams, the club have come up with six goals at Old Trafford already this season. Pep Guardiola's Premier League leaders came up trumps with a 3-0 win over United in October, and Gareth Taylor led his Super League contenders to a similarly dominant 3-1 victory at the Theatre of Dreams three weeks later.

With those bragging rights comes the opportunity to celebrate that fact loud and proud in front of the home faithful. And City have been doing plenty of that over the past month.

So much so, in fact, that the club saw fit to release a highlight reel of those recent exploits at Old Trafford – featuring all their knee-slide celebrations alone. And while City supporters may be only too happy to revel in a rival's misery, others were in awe of the antagonistic act.

"Making a celebration comp at your rivals ground might be one of the most disrespectful things I’ve ever seen," commented one viewer on X. Another asked: "Aren't rivals meant to respect each other?"

The clip compilation in question may give certain United supporters PTSD after flashing back to City's biggest win at Old Trafford in almost a decade. Erling Haaland scored twice for Guardiola's side last month before Phil Foden added a third in the 80th minute – and promptly joined in the sliding.

Their female counterparts also plundered their hosts earlier in November as Jill Roord, Lauren Hemp and Khadija Shaw got on the score sheet. And United were unable to cut the deficit despite City having defender Laia Aleixandri sent off with 20 minutes to go.

Ten Hag's home record has been sorely lacking this season, and City aren't the only ones who have had cause to celebrate at Old Trafford. The loss to City wasn't even the only 3-0 defeat they suffered at home that week in October, with Newcastle thumping the Red Devils out of the Carabao Cup only a few days after that demise.

United will have to wait another three months or so before they have their chance to avenge the loss at the Etihad in March. Though judging by recent form and the fact they've conceded 10 goals in their last 180 minutes at the ground, the visitors may not be doing much knee sliding.
