Tottenham step up talks with Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo – but Spurs face competition from Monaco to land the highly-rated 25-year-old

  • Tottenham are looking to secure a deal for Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo
  • Ligue 1 side AS Monaco are also chasing Adarabioyo in competition with Spurs
  • Daniel Levy has spent over £70m on James Maddison and Micky van de Ven

Tottenham are stepping up talks with Fulham for centre back Tosin Adarabioyo but will face some competition from French side AS Monaco.

After selling Harry Kane to Bayern Munich for £100m, Spurs are prepared to loosen the purse strings in a bid to back new manager Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham have already brought in James Maddison from Leicester for £40m and Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven for £34.5m, but have set their sights on further defensive reinforcements.

Central defender Adarabioyo has held talks with the north London club, but Ligue 1 side Monaco are also looking to lure the Englishman away from the Premier League.

Tosin Adarabioyo has been a regular in defence for Fulham since joining from Manchester City

Spurs are investing in manager Ange Postecoglou’s squad after a strong start to the season

Adarabioyo came through the Manchester City academy and spent time on loan at Championship sides West Brom and Blackburn.

He joined Fulham in 2020 and has gone on to make 108 appearances for the Cottagers, chipping in with three goals from the back.

Monaco are looking to replace Axel Disasi after his £38.7m move to Chelsea this summer, and view the 25-year-old as the ideal man for the job.

Fellow French side OGC Nice are also reportedly keeping tabs on Adarabioyo with Edmond Tapsoba linked to Manchester United.

However Fulham are reportedly more keen to sell to fellow London club Spurs as they are offering Eric Dier in return.

Dier is yet to feature in any of Tottenham’s Premier League squads so far this year so it doesn’t seem he will play much of a part in Ange Postecoglou’s side going forward.
